FAQs

How do I use the Calendar?

When you select (click-on) Calendar on the lefthand side menu, you are taken to the Community Calendar page, which normally displays the current month calendar (in this example it is August 2005).

At the top center is the name of the current month in a dark background and white letters, as are the days of the week. Notice that only today has a white background (in this example Friday, August 5, 2005).

Calendar entries/events are normally in medium blue. As you move the cursor over a calendar entry, the cursor changes from an arrow to a hand and the entry text changes to a lighter color.  In the next image, notice that 11a Aquacize Class, Mon, Aug 1, has changed to a lighter color (the cursor, not shown, is pointing to that event).

Click on a lighter-colored entry to obtain further details, if any, about that entry.  Clicking on the Aquacize Class entry will display the following.

At the bottom of the above (expanded) view there is a text area that will say Return to Calendar.  Click on that text and you will return to the full-month Calendar view.

At the top of the full-month Calendar view is a drop-down box labeled "View By Category." This allows you to filter the items displayed on the busy calendar so you may view only those items that interest you. For example, if you right-click on the down arrow, you will see a list of 21 categories, as follows.

The default is "All", but in the above screen we have selected "Meetings."  Next, right-click on the View button, and only committee meetings will display on the Calendar, as follows.

All but events categorized as "Meetings" have been filtered from the Calendar view.  Try out the filter view with different categories.

On either side of the month are listed the previous and next months, and previous and next years. If you were to click on the next month, September, the calendar would change and display events for that month; click on next year and it will change to the same month for the following year. (Early in the year you may not see any entries beyond the current year.  And there may be no entries for the prior year, or even for prior months, since we may have cleared earlier entries to save space on the hard disk.)
